Piece Japanese Drama Episode 13 Final Summary January 22, 2013

The 13th episode picks up where the 12th episode ends.  Remi is explaining that Haruka was there for her when no one else was. She flashbacks to where Remi is sitting with Haruka and Remi tells her that she has always hated herself, but now she hates herself so much she wants to die. Haruka tells her it is better to forget and Remi says she can’t, that she killed her own baby. Haruka says in that case it is better to pretend none of that ever happened and that she doesn’t know Kouji, that she never met him and they never met outside of school and that nothing has happened. She goes on saying that altering her memories is not going to hurt anyone and that it is going to be okay and to just forget it. She tells Remi to close her eyes and that when she opens them, her old life will be waiting for her. Haruka grabs Remi’s hand and holds it, Remi starts crying.

Remi is at school and she walks past Haruka on her way to school. Remi runs up to Mizuho and the rest of her friends and they start talking to each other. Haruka walks  behind them.

Remi continues in the present crying and says that she had no idea how much she took advantage of Haruka and if she hadn’t had been there at that time, but she erased all traces of existence of her from her mind. She says she is the worst and when she heard about her death she pretended to be unaffected and attended the funeral unaffected. She says she really is the worst and the lowest. Mizuho is crying at this point and goes and gives Remi a hug and says sorry for always making her laugh against her will. Remi says she didn’t and that she shouldn’t cry. Remi says she has no right to cry with all the horrible things she has done and says sorry.

Remi and Mizuho are sitting on a bench. Yanai is looking at the painting of Haruka. Maruo and Hikaru walk in and Maruo greets Hiro saying that it has been awhile. Hikaru says that to think that Mizuho found Hiro first and that she might be cut out to be a detective. Hikaru walks over to Hiro and gives him the envelope and tells him that it is Haruka’s last words. Hikaru says that when Haruka was hospitalized last spring, she called him and said she had something to ask of him.

 

Hikaru flashbacks to the hospital with Haruka and she tells him that she is going to die soon and that she would like him to do something for her because she can trust him to deliver it because he is Hiro and Hiro is him. She says that he loves him and at the same time hates him, he detests him yet deep inside he yearns for him. She says it must be the same for him too and that he is part of him and that she believes in them both. She pulls out the and says she wants him to give it to Hiro because there are a lot of things he wants to tell Hiro but now that she knows she is going to die, there is only one thing I want to tell him. She holds out the letter and says please, Hikaru watches her and then takes the letter from her.

In the present Hiro is opening the letter and Hikaru says that she said that there is only one thing she wanted to convey. Hiro opens the letter and it says Hiro, I love you so much. Hiro flashbacks to a time when she is sitting for him while he draws her. She thinks thank you for making me experience so much feelings, through all the joy and pain she was able to see a sparkling world from the dazzling landscape that sparkled in rainbow colors. Through the darkest despair, thank you I was happy Hiro and she loves him so much. Back to present Hiro starts crying.

It is morning and Remi and Mizuho are outside and Remi tells her that she used to be in love with Kouji, in spite of everything that happened and those days she used to be in love with him so much. She says she wonder if she should go in search for him even though he ran away because he was too much of a coward to tell me he didn’t love me and that maybe they should talk about it properly an.d bring it to a close. Mizuho agrees and says that maybe there were circumstances surrounding Kouji that she knew nothing about. Remi says hardly likely and then asks her what she is going to do about Hikaru she looks away and doesn’t answer.

 

Hiro and Maruo are in the house and Maruo tells him that he is not moving out to Yokosuka anytime soon and that he should come over anytime if he needs anything and next time he shouldn’t run away. Maruo walks away and Hiro looks at the painting of Haruka.

Yanai walks over to Hikaru who is sitting outside and gives him a drink. Hikaru asks Yanai if he feels better now and that he guesses he had a lot of fun digging up someone’s secret. Yanai replies that Hikaru is detestable as ever. Hikaru continues and says good thing she turned out to be untarnished after all, Haruka. Yanai replies that she turned out to be stronger than he had imagined and that he is overwhelmed. Yanai asks what about him and if he really came all this way just to hand over Haruka’s letter to Hiro and if he is really that kind hearted. Mizuho walks over to them and Yanai gets up and leaves. Hikaru stands up.

Hikaru is walking away and Mizuho runs after him asking why didn’t he answer his phone because she has been trying to call him for so long and tells him he is terrible. Hikaru says he lost his phone and she doesn’t believe him. She then says that he did nothing even after Haruka passed away and he pretended he didn’t know anything and then why now, all of a sudden, when it is too late and he replies he did it on a whim that all, just to pass time. He continues saying that since it concerned Hiro and he needed to contact Maruo anyways and that is why he met Kido to find out where Maruo lived and he finally able to reach him. He tells her that  is all and asks her if she is satisfied and if he can go and she asks where will he go and he says its a secret and has nothing to do with her. He tells her that Yanai and the others are waiting and she should go back. He walks away then. She starts running after him and calls Hikaru, he turns around asks what is it and she tells him that she doesn’t regret getting into the bus that time, that day even if she hadn’t gotten into the bus, somewhere else, she thinks she would surely have gotten lost. That getting into the wrong bus over and over again, she understood one thing that she likes him and she loves him and she has always wanted to know more about him, but not anymore, she tells him to take care and that she believes in him and she will be waiting and then says see you later. She gives him a hug and then walks back. She thinks that even if it is a fragment, it’s fine because one day it will be the piece that will light up his future. Hikaru starts walking away in his direction.

So this was the final episode and I am sad that it is over now! This episode made me a little bit emotional when Hiro opened the letter from Haruka and started crying. It seemed like finally I understood who Haruka was and that now I felt like I was able to grieve with Hiro because I knew who she was and how important she was to him and the others.

One thing that slightly confused me was why Hikaru had found Maruo and needed him to find Hiro? Maybe he just wanted Hiro to deal with his past and show Hiro that he doesn’t need to punish himself anymore over hitting Maruo?

The ending was slightly disappointing because Hikaru and Mizuho didn’t end up together but at the same time it seemed to fit the drama. Mizuho got the courage to tell Hikaru that she loved him and that she will wait for him but I think she realized that the only thing she can do for him is to be honest with her feelings. She can’t force him to be honest with his own feelings and that is a step that he has to take himself but that she will be ready for him when he is. I found their bus analogy really interesting that she doesn’t really want to follow the path she is supposed to take but she is going to make her own by taking the wrong bus.

Poor Remi she thought she loved Kouji but she was taken advantage by him and then thrown away which is sad that she basically did the same to Haruka. I mean Haruka gave her permission to do that to her but I think deep down Haruka would have rather had Remi be her friend.

I really admired Mizuho as a character!! she is strong and tried to develop her character and become a better person. I really admired her because she loved Hikaru but she didn’t sleep with him even though it would have been really easy for her to do that. She wanted more from him and even if she loses him for some time I think she knows that he will come back to her.

One thing that bothered me was that Hikaru, Hiro and Maruo never talk altogether and get it worked out!! I mean I think it would have been good for all of them to really discuss it so they could move forward in life.

This was an awesome drama!! I really enjoyed the mystery and intrigue of it all. I found it refreshing because it wasn’t a typical love story! it had those elements in it but the story overall offered something deeper and more intriguing!! I really enjoy psychological elements in my story and this had a lot of introspective moments, which I loved. I would recommend this drama to anyone who loves mystery first of all and needs a break from the typical romance story.

Piece Japanese Drama Episode 12 Summary January 20, 2013

The twelfth episode starts with Hiro painting on a canvas and then he flashbacks to a time where he is showing Haruka his work and she finds it amazing and she starts crying, he asks what is wrong and she tells him she was suddenly overcome with feelings. She tells him that she loves his paintings and she loves them the most in the world, he smiles. Back to the present Hiro looks at his painting he painted of her.

Mizuho is walking and she passes by Hiro and recognizes him. She grabs him and says Narumi, he pulls away and she recognizes him as Hiro. He asks who she is and she tells him to wait that she wants to phone Hikaru. He tells her to stop and that he promised her that he would break off connection to him and he walks away. Mizuho follows after him and asks him if he means her to be Haruka and he then stops. He flashbacks to Haruka and Hiro. Hiro is painting and she comes up behind him and he freaks out, she steps away and asks him if he dislikes her and he says no he doesn’t dislike her but that it is he is scared. She tells him he is very kind and that she wants to know his good points, his weaknesses, strong points, unbecoming points and everything about him and that she will accept them all.

Back to the present Mizuho and Hiro are in a restaurant and Mizuho asks him why Haruka was in Ibaraki and he says she had come in search for someone Sakata Kouji. He flashbacks to him and Haruka sitting on a bench and she is telling him she is looking for Kouji and she shows him a picture of him on her phone, Hiro’s eyes widen and he gets up and leaves. Hiro tells Mizuho that Kouji was a name he had never wanted to hear again and that he used to hang out with Hikaru. Mizuho asks him why Haruka was looking for Kouji and he says that she was helping her friend search for him, her classmate. Hiro then asks if Haruka is doing well and that she rejected him and now he still doesn’t have the strength to face her but someday he is definitely going to meet her. He flashbacks and they are sitting she stands up and so does he she tells him that she never knew he was such a person and she tells him that he frightens her and she starts crying. She says she is sorry and then leaves. He tells Mizuho that if there is even a slight chance that he would be accepted and that no matter how many years it takes, he’ll meet her. He asks Mizuho if she is her friend and if she is well, where she is and what she is doing she tells him that Haruka is no more and she passed away last summer and was ill. Mizuho tells him she is sorry she had to tell him such sad news. Hiro says it can’t be and that she is only 19. Mizuho says it is true and he says it is a lie and he gets up to leave Mizuho goes after him and chases him.

It is evening and Mizuho is at Hiro’s house and he tells her that she was everything to him and that’s why he told her his secret. Mizuho asks what he means by secret and he says one day he would be able to meet her again and that is what he believed in and now she has left him behind. He says it is too terrible and he picks up his paintings and throws them outside and Mizuho follows him. He tells her that the one who tried to kill Maruo wasn’t Hikaru. He flashbacks to the moment where Maruo is bullying him and he says he wanted to kill him and he wanted to escape that world of terror and panic. Hiro hits Maruo twice with the metal rod and Hikaru comes after and he says that Hikaru just covered up for him and he took the iron pipe that he had been clutching in his hand. Hikaru takes the iron pipe and wipes the blood off of it and wipes it on his shirt. Hiro says that Haruka couldn’t handle what he had done and left him. He goes on saying that was to be expected and that he has had enough and is tired. He picks up a bottle of something and says it is too much he pours it on his paintings and says it is better to erase everything of him and lights his lighter and drops it on the paintings and causes them to burn. Mizuho says what are you doing and she drops a blanket on the pile and pulls off the painting of Haruka. Mizuho says don’t destroy so easily what remains of her.

Yanai and Remi get out of the taxi and he says this is the place. They go in and and see Mizuho and Yanai asks if it is Hiro and she says yes. Yanai walks over to Hiro and asks him if it is him who got Haruka pregnant since he is her ex boyfriend. Hiro looks confused and Yanai grabs him tells him not to act like he doesn’t know. Mizuho stops him and Yanai asks why she is sticking up for him and she tells him that he is wrong and Hiro was Haruka’s boyfriend but he is mistaken. Mizuho tells him that the one who got pregnant was her friend. Remi speaks up and says it was her and that she was the one who was played with and made pregnant was her not Haruka. Remi says she got exposed and she wanted to keep it secret and never tell it to anyone as long as she lived but she guesses it was impossible after all. Mizuho asks her if it true and she says yes Haruka just advised her and lent her support and she even sent that guy the mail in her place telling him about the abortion. Mizuho asks her about the guy and she says it was Kouji and that she got pregnant with his child.

Remi flashbacks to them leaving the hotel and as they are walking he asks how she is and she says she is fine. He asks her if it was her first time and she says that she was a bit scared of doing it but she is happy and this is the happiest she has been until now. He goes up to her and hugs her and then kisses her. He then says he will call her later. She is in her classroom and trying to phone but she leaves him a voicemail telling him she will be waiting for his call. Remi is then at the bookstore buying books from Haruka and Haruka recognizes her, Remi panics and drops her change. Remi is picking up the change and Haruka helps her pick them up and tells her to wait for her at the coffee shop in front and she will settle her bill later. They meet up and Remi thanks her for the books and says she didn’t expect she would be seen by a classmate in such a place and that she is the worst. Haruka tells her that she won’t tell anyone that it is okay and she doesn’t have any friends. Remi says that she has a lot of names in her contact list but now when she needs a friend there is no one. She goes on saying that she did it with someone and she didn’t want to admit it, so she bought those books but she knew it was no good in her head she understood. Haruka stands up and holds her hand and then pulls away and says sorry and that she couldn’t find words to cheer her up properly. Remi then grasps her hands and says thanks Haruka. Back to present Remi says that she was the only by her side and the only one who came to know about her pregnancy and that she was the one who tried to contact Kouji and search for him. Hiro then asks Remi if the reason she was searching for Kouji  and she answers for her sake and that it was the most difficult time in her life and she was the only one there for her and that ends episode 11.

Well this episode has answered a lot of questions! I feel like I have understood everything a lot better. Remi was the one who got pregnant and that makes sense I guess I should have figured it out when earlier she was brought to the hotel! I guess I couldn’t place her and Haruka together which is explained in this episode. It is sad that Remi couldn’t be honest with Mizuho but I mean if I was Mizuho I would question a little more of why she wanted to come with soo badly all the time but I guess she could tell Remi didn’t want to talk about it.

I was shocked that Hiro didn’t know that she had died that was very sad!! One thing that i don’t understand is why they were not together after he had told her about what really happened? We learned earlier that Haruka had come to Maruo and said that she felt bad about running away from Hiro and that he is the most beloved person to her so what had she not found him? I wonder why she couldn’t find him? I would think that there will have been some way to try and find him that doesn’t make sense?? Another thing I don’t understand is why she told Hikaru to stay away from him? Was it because he brought up bad memories or because Hiro becomes too dependent on Hikaru??

I am not sure what is happening with Hikaru and Maruo and why the two of them need to go look for Hiro? especially at this time? why did he need to deliver the letter now? maybe because he knew that Mizuho was close to finding out about Hirio and he wanted to beat her and Yanai to him?? This story is coming to a close in the next episode and I hope the ending will fully explain and give all the answers!!

Piece Japanese Drama Episode 11 Summary January 18, 2013

The eleventh episode starts with Yanai talking with Kido and he tells him that they were Hiro and Hikaru were strange brothers, they looked alike but their personalities were opposites and that Hikaru lived in Tokyo and Hiro in Ibaraki and they were living apart.  Kido continues and says that they used to bully Hiro and Hikaru would come from Tokyo and retaliate but around middle school Kouji began to get more and more interested in Hikaru until he started hanging out with him. It flashbacks to 7 years ago. Kouji is passing the ball to Kido and Hikaru tells him to pass and they all play. Hiro is watching from the background and a guy comes up to him and says that is true that his brother has ditched him. There is a yorkshire terrier dog tied to a large piece of stone and Hiro has some sort of iron rod and the guy tells him to kill it. Hiro doesn’t and then the guy kicks him, Hiro gives him a large push. Kido comes and tells Hikaru and Kouji that there is trouble and that Maruo has taken Hiro along with him. Hikaru jumps fences and goes to where Hiro is. Hiro has the rod in his hand and Maruo is grabbing his collar it turns black. Kido and Kouji catch up and they see Maruo on the ground with blood and Hikaru holding the pipe while Hiro who also has blood on him is on the ground crying. Kouji asks him if he did it and Hikaru nods. Kido says that Maruo is not moving and he wants to call an ambulance Kouji stops him and asks if he wants to turn in his friend and says that nothing has happened and Maruo fell on his own. Kouji pushes him off the ledge that drops a large distance into a cement ground.

Yanai has explained the story to Mizuho and Remi and Mizuho asks what happened to Maruo and he tells her that Maruo survived but he still has serious wounds on his legs. Yanai goes on saying that he told her not to give up but he was a human experiment and he asks her if she can really love a guy like that. He goes on saying that anyone can make a mistake and anyone can lose their way in unfamiliar terrain but make the right choice, choose and resolve to turn back and he refuses to acknowledge drifters. Mizuho starts crying and says sorry and that even so she still likes Hikaru and then continues crying. Yanai picks up his bag and tells her that Hikaru has apparently gone to Yokosuka in search of Maruo. Mizuho asks him why Hikaru would looks for Maruo Yanai says he has no idea but tomorrow they should all got to Yokosuka and try to find out and then walks away.

Mizuho and Remi are about to cross the street and Remi says that they are the worst Hikaru and Kouji and that yes they didn’t have a proper upbringing but that doesn’t mean they could hurt anyone like that, to throw someone off the cliff like that, it is unforgivable. Mizuho asks her what is wrong and asks her if she knows Kouji. Remi yells she doesn’t angrily and starts crossing the street, Mizuho calls after her and Remi tells her to shut up and to leave her alone since she doesn’t have any interest in her. Remi walks away and she flashbacks to a party and everyone is cheering her on to eat some sort of food and she does. She is later puking outside and someone is behind her and asks if she is alright, she tries to get up but she pukes again. He picks up her tissue on the ground and says whatever she is trying to hold back to just let it out because she will feel better and hands her the tissue and it is Kouji.

Remi is at the cafe with Kouji and she tells him she goes to G High School and he says he knows Hikaru who also goes there and she says she is in his class. He tells her that they used to hang out together when they were kids.

Remi goes to visit Kouji and she gives him some food and then she gets nervous and he tries it and says that is is delicious. He gets called back to work and she hands him another container of food he leaves and she is excited. 

Remi and Kouji are walking and they are by a hotel, he says should we and she nods. Remi is back in the present.

Remi comes out of her apartment and Mizuho surprises her and calls to her.

Mizuho and Remi are together and Mizuho says that she couldn’t answer any of her questions properly and that she didn’t understand her own heart. Even though she told her to talk to her if she had any problems, there wasn’t anything she wanted to talk about. Mizuho continues and says that now she understands a little about herself and she can talk better now and that someday Remi should tell her about Kouji and that if she wants to talk about it. Remi asks Mizuho if she is going to visit Maruo, Mizuho nods and says she can’t let it end this way. Mizuho says she is going to leave and Remi stops her and asks her to take her with.

Yanai, Mizuho and Remi are walking and Yanai is telling them that it looks like Kido took care of Maruo’s treatment even after he moved and that it looks like Maruo entered a rehab program in Yokosuka.

They go to Maruo’s house and a girl answers the door asking who they are and Yanai asks her if it is Maruo’s house, she says yes and asks them if they are Maruo’s acquaintances and he answers no they aren’t. She tells them that Maruo is out and that the day before yesterday Hikaru had come to see him. She tells them that Haruka was the one that sent him and that after the two of them had a private talk and Maruo took out a secret letter and then he went with Hikaru to Yokohama. Yanai asks her what the secret letter was and she tells him that a year or so back, he used to get anonymous letters sometimes. Yanai says that in other words the two of them went in search of the sender and she tells him that Maruo didn’t clearly say it but probably.

Maruo and Hikaru are together, Maruo is talking to a street vendor and Hikaru is looking at all his missed calls from Mizuho on his phone and then he drops it in the garbage. Maruo comes over and tells him to help out and Hikaru says he can’t help because he is too hungry and Maruo follows him. As they walk away Hiro walks by unseen by the two of them.

Mizuho is trying to call Hikaru and the no one is answering. The girl tells them that Haruka once came to visit Maruo about a year back and that it was a surprise visit and that she wanted to blame herself for what she had done to her boyfriend. Mizuho asks her if her boyfriend was Hiro and she says she didn’t know his name. Yanai asks if something happened between that boyfriend and Maruo and she tells them that she heard he was the one who injured Maru’s legs. Remi questions that Hikaru was the one that hurt Maruo and Yanai says yes that he did it to protect his brother Hiro. Yanai wonders then if Haruka’s ex boyfriend was Hikaru and he asks her to tell them what they talked about.

It flashbacks to Haruka at their door and she tells Maruo that he told her everything about wanting to keep it a secret and that for the first time he was able to open his heart to someone but she was scared and she couldn’t accept him and that is why he disappeared from her sight. She tells him that she regrets the fact that she got scared and ran away and that she doesn’t want to avert her eyes from what he had done. Maruo asks her if that is true and she says yes, she loves him and even now he is the most beloved person to her. 

Back to the present Yanai asks her if Haruka really said that she loved him and she nods. Mizuho says that it can’t be that Hikaru was Haruka’s boyfriend.

Mizuho is on a bed and Remi comes in and says she bought croquettes. Remi sees that she is depressed and tries to cheer her up. Remi asks her if she was shocked that Haruka’s ex-boyfriend was Hikaru and she says that Hikaru opened his heart to Haruka and somehow that was surprising and she thought that it didn’t matter that he didn’t love her but she just wanted to be with him. Remi says that love isn’t as pretty as she makes it look that when you love you want to be loved in return and if it is that serious about love then she doesn’t know what she is supposed to do.

Maruo’s girl is talking to him on the phone and she tells him that someone named Mizuho and her friends came from Tokyo and said she knew Hikaru and that she keeps getting his answering machine and that he should tell him to phone her back they say they love each other and hang up, Hikaru interrupts. Maruo tells him that Mizuho is trying to get ahold of him and to call her back immediately, Hikaru says he threw away his phone. Maruo asks why and he says for some reason or another and that it became too troublesome. Maruo asks if it is the girl and Hikaru says yes and Maruo tells him that if he doesn’t like her to turn her down properly. He says that is is not like he doesn’t like her and that she is kind of useful and sometimes it is interesting and that it is sometimes nice to have her near. Maruo asks then why and he says they are all serious everyone one of them so he ends up running away.

Mizuho is on the bed and Remi is sleeping on the floor and Mizuho says that one day it would be nice if they could love someone properly and then says good night.

Mizuho wakes up because her phone is ringing and it is Maruo’s girlfriend and she says she got a call from Maruo and she says that they are still in Yokohama and that she had told Maruo that Mizuho had come to Yokosuka and for Hikaru to call her and she asks if he did. Mizuho says no but thanks her for the information and that she will go to Yokohoma.

Mizuho is walking and she walks past Hiro and she recognizes him and this is how the eleventh episode ends.

OH MY!! what a complicated episode!! so first of all I think that Hiro was the one that  hit Maruo with the rod and took the fall for Hiro because he knew that Hiro wouldn’t be able to handle that pressure as well. I think that Hiro is the ex-boyfriend of Haruka’s and that after he told her what happened she couldn’t handle it right away and he ran away from those problems. Second it was so stupid to push Maruo off the ledge!! they didn’t even check to see if he was breathing!! I mean they should have called for an ambulance and then run away or something?? that was just idiotic what they did!! I am amazed that Maruo and Hikaru can even see each other and go looking for Hiro together I mean I wouldn’t want to have anything to do with those brothers after that!! I think that Haruka wants them to resolve the issues between the three of them and especially between Hiro and Maruo because I think that Hiro is having a hard time living with the guilt from almost killing Maruo and she couldn’t help them when they were dating and she ran out of time so she gave that task to Hikaru. Hikaru is having issues with Mizuho he doesn’t want to take her calls and maybe he is scared that she won’t be able to love him if she truly knew who he was and so therefore is just pushing her away before she could do that to him. Remi she is obviously tied into this story as well, she must have a vested interest in Haruka’s ex-boyfriend as well because she almost begs to come along and this obviously has to do with her at one time boyfriend Kouji. I am not sure what happened there but it seems like she is disturbed with Kouji and Hikaru now? maybe she found out that he had pushed Maruo off the ledge when they thought he was dead? I don’t know but it seems like it will continue with her story in the next episode?! I mean how epic was it when Mizuho passes Hiro on the street!! what a great moment and cliff hanger!! I can’t wait to see what happens in the next episode!!

Piece Japanese Drama Episode 10 Summary January 16, 2013

 

The tenth episode starts with Mizuho and Yanai visiting Hikaru’s mother. Mizuho asks where Hiro is living now and she replies that it is odd and wonders why Haruka’s parents were so eager to find their daughter’s boyfriend. His mom asks her what Haruka’s ex-boyfriend did and Mizuho tells her that Haruka was pregnant with his child and had to get an abortion. Yanai yells what and stands up in surprise and Mizuho says sorry that she couldn’t tell him before and then he sits back down. Hikaru’s mother says if that was the case it was not Hiro and Mizuho explains that his personality and situation point to it. Hiro’s mom says that the one who got her pregnant was definitely not Hiro because Hiro can’t touch girls because he has heterophobia and it makes him physiologically unable to be with a woman let alone get her pregnant. Mizuho think that it is not right and in that case who is it? Hiro’s mom says obviously thinking shouldn’t it be Hikaru and Mizuho jumps in saying that Hikaru is different from the image we have of that person.

Hikaru’s mom then asks Mizuho who she is to Hikaru and she tells her that she was his classmate and they used to hug and kiss but she wasn’t his girlfriend and she used to run errands and they slept together. His mom smiles and says tells her that Mizuho wanted to see a thread of sincerity in Hikaru so she is trying to set someone else as the culprit. Mizuho says that is not like that and that she has talked to various people and taken into accounts only facts and his mother says that people are easily deceived by their own minds and that she fell in love with such a guy and now to suit her convenience she is trying to justify her action by distorting the facts. His mom goes on saying that he is not a bad person but he is just a little weak and a pitiful person and that she gets a lot of girls here saying things like that as patients and she touches Mizuho’s shoulder and leans in saying that if she doesn’t have confidence in her judgement she is free to come here anytime. His mom is walking away and Mizuho asks her to tell her where Hiro is now and that she wants to find out on her own whether Haruka’s boyfriend is Hiro or not. His mom tells her that she doesn’t know and that he left the house on his 20th birthday and hasn’t been in touch after that.

Yanai and Mizuho are at a restaurant and she tells him that she is sorry that she kept Haruka’s pregnancy a secret from him. Yanai says its is shocking and that he is more than shocked but he did say he wanted to know more about his unknown girlfriend. He then asks what about her that when she finally got to know the Hikaru that she didn’t know will she be able to accept him. He continues saying that in high school he saw him lashing out whenever he broke up with a girl and that he doesn’t think that he would be able to accept a person who treated him like that and that he doesn’t think he can or want to understand such a person. Mizuho says that Hikaru’s mother did not want Hikaru and his brother to have any connection with each other so she had separated them early on whether it was the house or housekeeper they were brought up in similar environments. Yanai asks why she would do that and Mizuho recalls what Nanao-san told her which is that their mother separated and raised them apart without having any contact because she wanted to see how they would be affected by their environment. Mizuho continues and tells him that it continued that way and when Hikaru entered primary school he had already become emotionally unbalanced and self-centered. She continues saying that Hiro was different from Hikaru and that he was a quiet child and constantly picked on by bullies and that Nanao-san who knew about Hiro frequently used to take Hikaru to Ibaraki where Hiro lived.

Mizuho continues and says that Nanao wanted to raise Hikaru to be kind and gentle even if he was sightly warped she wanted him to connect with others but Hikaru, Yanai stops her because she sees that she is crying and she then also notices and wipes the tears. Yanai gives her a napkin and asks if she is okay, she takes it and wipes her tears. He says that Hikaru had an abnormal childhood and Mizuho thinks that that too is a  part of him. Yanai asks how she is going to search for Hiro and she tells him that she is going to go to Ibaraki tomorrow and that the neighbors may know where he moved to. Yanai says that he has to go to the university tomorrow but once his class is over he will catch up with her.

Hikaru is walking on a bridge and looking at letter. Mizuho is stopped on a bridge and she thinks that she doesn’t really know the parts that make up Hikaru. Mizuho phones Hikaru but his phone is turned off or he is not answering.

Hikaru is at an apartment complex and looks at a piece of paper. A guy comes out of a room and recognizes Hikaru saying that it has been awhile. A girl comes out of the apartment. The guys asks him why he is here and Hikaru says that it is not like he wanted to come but he was asked by Haruka.

Mizuho is walking and Remi greets her. They are walking and she has explained what has happened so far. Remi tells her that she also wants to come look for Haruka’s ex-boyfriend and Mizuho is surprised because at first she had hesitations about doing it. Remi explains that she still feels the same but that she is like Mizuho because she had a change of heart that the Mizuho who didn’t care about others all of a sudden started meddling in other people’s affairs and she wanted to know the reason for the change. Mizuho thinks that ever since back then Remi would often say things that would stab at her heart. Mizuho asks if Remi hates her and she says no that she always had unrequited love for Mizuho and that it is one-sided on her part but even though she feels miserable she wants to be with her and that sometimes when she is with her she feels terribly sad. Mizuho tells her sorry and Remi says that it is okay and that unrequited love is like this and that she is good at one-sided affairs.

Yanai is walking and Koike comes up behind and jumps on his back saying that he thought he would never find him because the campus is so huge. Yanai tries to get him off and Koike says that he wants to have a class reunion and was wondering if he would help.

Mizuho is with Remi and shows her Hiro’s house and they decide to search the area and visit a lot of neighbors.

Mizuho and Remi are standing outside and Remi says that even though Hiro lived here there is no one that actually knows him and that it is sad that no one has a memory of him and cruel. Mizuho says that the search has just started and that until Haruka’s funeral she had forgotten all about Haruka and that no one remembered her and was a lonely girl she thought but while searching she has understood that she was loved by many people and that someone had even fallen in love with her and that is why she doesn’t think that the world that she sees now is all there is and that she is sure there is a person out there who knows Hiro. Mizuho thinks Hiro, Hikrau’s other half, having loved him so deeply, Haruka couldn’t control her feelings as well and that is what she felt too, and what is it we feel when we first start liking someone she wants to know all that and more. Mizuho phone rings and it is Yanai, she answers and he tells her that he found someone that knows Hiro his name is Kido and according to him Hikaru had killed someone before and that he met him at the class reunion in the school that Hiro had attended and from him I got the contact addresses of the guys who used to bully Hiro and he tells her to go meet a guy named Sakata Kouji and that he will get more information from Kido.

Yanai is with Kido and he says he doesn’t know where Hiro lives but he may know the whereabouts of his younger brother and that he came to see him last week because she was searching for someone.

Remi tells Mizuho she wants to come with and meet Sakata Kouji very urgently. Mizuho go the address and she says that it looks like he has moved and Remi walks down the stairs and they meet Yanai. Mizuho asks him if he found anything about where Hiro is and he says no but he knows where Hikaru is now and she asks where. Yanai says he is begging her to not get involved with Hikaru anymore and that he told her that he has killed someone in the past. It flashes on the screen please forgive me for thinking that I need him and this is how the tenth episode ends.

Wow!!  this episode is a doozy!! it is almost just getting weird like Remi is in love with Mizuho?? like WHAT? that is just so weird I did not get that vibe from her but whatever it seems like an unnecessary part of the story to me? Now Hikaru has killed someone that is just CRazY! I really hope he has not done it though and I am assuming he did it for his older brother who was being picked on? Hiro apparently has a phobia of women that is kinda weird because he obviously spent time with Haruka because she has his painting but maybe he wasn’t her boyfriend? but it seems pretty sure he is and so Hikaru has this complicated past with his brother but I am not sure where it is leading yet?? I kinda think Yanai is starting to fall for Mizuho because he wants to keep protecting her but I don’t think they will end up together because Mizuho is in love with Hikaru.

Piece Japanese Drama Episode 9 Summary January 13, 2013

 

Episode 9 starts off with Mizuho going to Hikaru’s brothers house and she realizes that they grew up in identical houses. She thinks that she has always badly wanted to know more about Hikaru, she wanted to touch his smile and see what was behind his guarded look and thinks by meeting his brother she will finally be able to reach Hikaru’s heart. She sees the name on the door is Naruse not Narumi. She thinks then that his brother is in the same situation and she recalls Hikaru telling her that he is dependent until his is 20 and then the house will be sold off. She realizes that he turned 20 a year ago so he had to leave the house.

Mizuho is sitting down with the current owner of the house and she tells her that Narumi-san was the person that lived here before and he was a painter. The owner takes her into a room and Mizuho smells the oil paint that permeated the room. She asks her if she knows where Narumi is now and she says sorry that she doesn’t know anything about him.

Mizuho is walking away thinking that she thought she would find the hidden piece of the puzzle is she came here and that until a year ago his brother used to paint there and that Hikaru will have to also leave his house on his birthday next month. She wonders if he will disappear from her sight. Mizuho gets out her phone and tries phoning Hikaru.

 Hikaru is on his couch picks up his phone and sees that it is Mizuho and then turns off his phone. Hikaru looks at the painting and has a flashback he is with Haruka in a cafe and she has the same painting with her. She asks Hikaru not to see him from now on and to move on that he is different from Hikaru because he is weak, innocent and kindhearted.

Yanai and Matsuura have met Mizuho and she has explained the situation with Hikaru and his brother living apart in different houses. Mizuho says based on the description that her ex-boyfriend smelled of paint and was kind-hearted she thinks that Hikaru’s brother is the one. Yanai says that he doesn’t think that they should jump to conclusions based only on that. Mizuho says she wants to stay here and ask around the neighborhood and the minute she finds anything she will report to him. Mizuho starts walking away, Yanai asks her to stop and grabs her arm saying that it is getting late and to keep it for later and that if she should ask Hikaru about Haruka being his brothers ex. She tells him that it is impossible because Hikaru is not answering his phone and that she thinks he is doing it on purpose. Yanai tells her thats an assumption on her part . She goes on saying that Hikaru has always played the fool, has been aimless and reckless and that he is not honest about his feelings. That they have never talked about anything essential and he doesn’t trust her enough to talk about his fears and things that matter. Yanai tells her to calm down and she says she is calm and tells him to go back before her because she is taking his desire to find out about Haruka’s ex very seriously. Mizuho starts walking away again and Yanai goes after her yelling that even though she has reached her limit to not selfishly shut other people out and then tells her to wait until she calms down because these things are hard to talk about and that once she has explained everything properly, he’ll understand

Yanai, Mastuura and Mizuho are at a restaurant and Mizuho says sorry to Yanai and that it could be because she is bad at conveying her feelings to others. She goes on saying that people think she is cool but the truth is she has come this far without being able to convey her feelings properly to others. Matsuura joins in and says that there are lots of people like that if they are not goo with words, they try to express themselves by singing or painting. He goes on saying that if he was the only one in the world he would never paint, sing or argue and that there would be no point in thinking or feeling. Yanai agrees and says that we start doing something because they want to connect with others. Matsuura agrees and says that even those who are hard to understand and he also wonders if Haruka was also like that.

He goes on saying that how he came to know Haruka was, he flashbacks to his class sketching outside. Haruka is sitting on a bench in front of him and he comes over and talks about the colors she is using in her picture of a tree. He is very friendly with her and tries to grab her sketchbook out of her hands to look at the painting and she runs away. Matsuura explains that to him Haruka was just overflowing with the bright colors that kids love like yellow, pink or green. He goes on saying that he it is quite different from what she seems and that he is sure she had feelings that couldn’t be expressed through words. Matsuura goes on saying that even if you feel like you can’t express yourself properly, if you try hard one day your feeling will get through.
 

Hikaru is lying on his couch and has a flashback he is visiting Haruka in the hospital and she tells him that she is going to die soon and that she would like him to do her a favor. He says he doesn’t want to and why him, she says because he is part of him and that she believes in him. Hikaru is holding a letter that says to Hiro-san and he throws if on the floor.

Yanai and Mizuho are walking and she tells him that tomorrow she is going to visit Hikaru but she doesn’t know if he will talk to her but she will make an effort to convey her feelings to him. He agrees and says that he wasn’t lying when he said that through this search for Haruka’s ex-boyfriend he wanted to meet his unknown girlfriend and that maybe at some point he wanted to change himself and that she shouldn’t give up because the person she loves is still alive. They then say goodbye and she thinks as he walks away reality is something like this and to not shut yourself again, shine brightly and give your all to create a future full of rainbows. She calls out to him and tells him that he is very kind and that he is not incompetent and is a good man and that she means it.

Mizuho is ringing Hikaru’s doorbell and wonders if he has gone out and tries to open the locked door. Nanao-san asks is something is wrong and she says she has come to help her. Mizuho goes in and they both can’t find Hikaru and Mizuho waits for him. She goes into the living room and the painting is broken into two pieces. Hikaru is shown in the room earlier and he kicks the painting into two. Mizuho tries phoning Hikaru and his phone is turned off. Mizuho thinks that if she continues with her efforts to convey her feelings one day the closed world will break apart and when that happens even if its imperfect, she thought that a shining rainbow-filled future will open up but she was naive, dreaming more worthless dreams than others. Mizuho falls to her knees in front of the painting and clutches her chest, Nanao-san comes to her asking if she is alright. She says she is and Nanao-san tells her that the reason she is feeling anxious is because he is important to her and that it is such a wonderful truth. Mizuho then thinks that she had always wanted to know about Hikaru and that curiosity led her to hold much guilt but if there is even a little bit of this wonderful feeling mixed up with that desire to know Hikaru she would like to affirm this desire. She then says that she wants to meet Hikaru’s mother.

Mizuho is walking with Hikaru’s mother business card in her hand. Her name is called by Yanai and she thanks him for coming and he says lets go. They go in and are sitting at a table with tea and he asks if she is alright and she says yes. The doors open and Hikaru’s mother comes in, Mizuho thinks Hiro and Hikaru were both made by this person and this is how the 9th episode ends.

I was expecting something different to happen in this episode!! I thought Mizuho was going to meet Hikaru’s brother but instead it gets her to meet his mother instead! It has been made clear to us that Hiro is Haruka’s ex-boyfriend and that Hikaru has known this the whole time. He has been leading her down rabbit holes telling her that Yanai liked Haruka and this lead her to other places. No wonder Hikaru has been kinda weird in the past episodes he knows the truth will come out eventually and it is as if he is waiting around for her to figure it out and to question him about it. It makes sense why he has stayed out of the investigation which doesn’t seem like his personality, he seems like he is also a curious person needing to know all the answers but he already knew it.

 I am curious though why Haruka came to Hikaru and told him to stay away from Hiro? that is just weird and almost possessive! Of course it probably has to do with Hikaru and Hiro having a falling out because the picture and painting obivously angers him and he wants to destroy anything that has to do with his brother. I wonder if Hikaru is on his way to deliver Haruka’s letter? Or if he is too angry and he is going to destroy it in front of his brother or something really mean?

It was interesting with Mizuho who wants to try to convey her feelings better and that it seems like she is really similar with Yanai. Yanai and her both were unable to convey their feelings to their loved ones they were both scared of the rejection and decided against it.  It seems like Yanai has realized this and encourages Mizuho to be truthful with Hikaru and she reassures him that he is a kind person and that she is not incompetent which is what she also struggle with. I wonder how Hikaru’s mother is going to act towards her visiting her maybe she will not talk to them or maybe she will be very honest with what she did to her sons? It just keeps getting more intriguing!!

Piece Japanese Drama Episode 8 Summary January 11, 2013

The eight episode of Piece starts with Mizuho going into Hikaru’s house. Mizuho gets inside and stares at his place and remembers when she first went there. She thinks she doesn’t know what drew him to her, but she wanted to know Hikaru more and more. Since the day he told her he didn’t need her she has kept her emotions locked up. Hikaru comes back to her and she shows him the painting that was done by Haruka’s boyfriend and she asks if it is Hikaru’s work because of the initials. He says that she has got the wrong guy and that there are many people with the same initials.

Mizuho walks into his living room and exclaims at the mess around them and he says that she is just in time to help her clean. She asks if that is why he let her in and he says jokingly he was in a fix and had no place to sleep. She asks what happened to Nanao-san and he says that she drops in sometimes. She says that back then she came once a week and he says it was because she was fond of her and that 3 years ago she saw her that time. He goes on saying that since then she hated him so much that she only comes once in a while, he goes on saying that her contract will expire on his birthday since she said she would help his mom until he was 20. Mizuho asks when his birthday is because he turns 20 this year and he says next month. He says that this house will be sold off then and she asks what he is going to do and he has no idea. He says he will probably die worthlessly somewhere and he can’t imagine what the future holds.

She thinks that Hikaru will never change, irresponsible and never letting his true self out. He then grabs her head and gives her a plastic bag telling her he is leaving it up to her. She thinks that no matter how close you get to someone, there is always a wall in between. She then thinks stubborn, impossible to understand that it scared her but as she opens her eyes more she thinks that isn’t that person just like her. She thinks that she may have been afraid of her own reflection in the mirror but that is no longer the case. She drops her bag and gives him a back hug and he what she is doing, she says being nice to him. She thinks she has always wanted to do this for herself and Hikaru. She says she can smell his scent and then that she will come again. She thinks she wants to share a world of color with Hikaru. She then gets her stuff and leaves.

Mizuho, Madoka, and Yanai are at a cafe and she has told them she forgot the painting at Hikaru’s house. She tells them that she will go back and Madoka asks if she is using it as an excuse to go see Hikaru again. Mizuho stutters and tells them that it isn’t that. Yanai tells her that he could be Haruka’s ex boyfriend and that there is no one from the alumni other than Hikaru with the initials H.N. who could have any connection with Haruka. Mizuho says that Hikaru doesn’t smell of paint. She thinks she remembers Hikaru’s smell clearly. She explains that Hikaru doesn’t have the will to express anything and that Haruka’s boyfriend is supposed to kind and gentle and Hikaru is nothing like that. Mizuho thinks Hikaru is messed up but at the same time she wanted to trust the warmth from the hand that touched her with gentleness.

Madoka says that she thinks they have come to a standstill on the search and Yanai agrees and thinks there is no need to tell her parents but that he still wants to know the truth. Yanai then says that they should look for people in the art club since it has  to do with painting and that they may know something. Mizuho phone rings and she sees it is Hikaru, she answers and he tells her that he is out of orange juice and jelly. She asks why her and he says because she said she would come again and that she should also get some other things. Mizuho sits down again and Haruka asks if she will buy them and she says no. Yanai says that she will go though and she nods. Yanai tells her not to let him hurt her and that she shouldn’t show him sympathy.

Mizuho is back at Hikaru’s with some groceries he requested and sees him on the couch. She is amazed he can sleep in the mess and he says he was hoping she would help him clean. He complains about the groceries she got and she tells him she is not his housekeeper. He asks what she is to him then, he pulls her down on the couch and tells her not to think too hard because he loves her. She is shocked and then says that he means that she comes in handy and he says yes. She then thinks that there is no way this person will ever want her or want to get deeply involved with her. He is lying on the floor while she is trying to vacuum, teasing her and she is thinking that to have a person who can cherish her deeply it sets her heart at ease that why to give him what he desires is not such a bad idea at all. They are sleeping on the floor together and he is grasping her pinky and she thinks that even if it doesn’t last or she gets hurt it is better to think about that all later. Mizuho shuts his front door and runs into Nanao-san and grasps her hand and says thank you.

Mizuho and Nanao-san are at a restaurant and Nanao-san tells her that she was the one who left the door open that day, three years ago, she wanted someone to find out about that child and how his mother gave him unnecessary stress to see how he would react.  She goes on saying that she wanted to raise Hikaru to be kind and gentle and it didn’t matter if he wasn’t perfect but she wanted him to interact with others but that seemed to confuse him more. She says she shouldn’t have gotten those 2 people together and she says there is one more person involved. She takes out a picture of two boys and on the back it says Hiro age 7 and Hikaru age 6. Nanao-san says that it is Hikaru’s brother older by one year. She says that his mother had them separated and raised apart not letting them have any contact with each other.  She continues saying, she wanted to see how they would be affect by their environment. She thought it was too cruel so she would let them meet secretly because she believed the presence of the other would have a positive effect on them and they got along well. She thought everything would turn out well between them but circumstances led Hikaru to grow up biased and prejudiced. Nanao-san then says she wanted to tell someone this because she wanted to knock down the thick walls he has built around himself. Mizuho asks her where Hikaru’s brother is and she pulls out her book with the directions to get there.

Yanai is eating dessert and Matsuura-kun recognizes him and Yanai tells him he wants to ask him some questions about Haruka.

Mizuho is on the train and she is looking at the address and she thinks that he has come here before with Nanao-san when he was a child to meet his brother. She flashbacks to when they rode the same train and they got off at a stop and had a run-in with some guys. She thinks that perhaps they had mistaken Hikaru for his brother.

Matsuura-kun is telling Yanai that in the winter holidays of 2nd year he went to visit his grandma and used to spend time at the station drawing and he saw Haruka there he thought it was someone else but after seeing her many times. While they are talking Yanai is looking at his sketchbook with sketches of Haruka he comes across one and she is holding a canvas. Yanai asks where his grandma lives.

Mizuho gets out of the station and realizes that it is the same station Hikaru got off three years back. Mizuho phone rings it is Yanai and he tells her that Matsuura saw Haruka many times in Ibaraki and that he thinks that her ex boyfriend lives there and he asks if they should go together because Mastsuura can show them around. She tells him that she thinks she is on her way to see Haruka’s ex-boyfriend right now. She tells him that she thinks Hikaru’s brother is Haruka’s ex-boyfriend. She says she will tell him the details later.

Mizuho is walking to the address and thinks she will see Hikaru’s other half and couldn’t wait to meet him. Hikaru is staring at the painting and he is holding the picture of him and his brother. Mizuho thinks that she wants to touch the smile and see what lies behind his guarded look and that finally she will be able to touch his heart. Hikaru tears apart the picture. Mizuho sees the house and is surprised. She starts running and thinks that the house stood on raised ground, overlooking the city. It was identical to the house that she had loved.

First of all it so creepy that Hikaru’s mom basically turned their lives into experiments. I mean that is so cold and cruel! and is she even their biological mother I mean that is so wrong. My guess will be that Hiro will have a much happier life and will be treated the opposite of Hikaru because she will be testing a theory about the environment and it looks like Hikaru got the stressful one so I bet Hiro will have gotten the loving and peaceful one. If Hiro is the ex-boyfriend which it looks like it is because Hikaru seems to recognize the painting and even pulls out the picture how did the two of them even meet? Of course I am intrigued as to why Hikaru is angry with his brother by the fact he ripped up the picture? This journey is so interesting especially the way it is changing the people who are trying to figure out her life. Mizuho is discovering who she is and why she was so afraid and intrigued at the same time of Hikaru which is that she sees they are alike. She is afraid of seeing the truth about herself. She is so interested in figuring out Hikaru which I think at the same time she is trying to understand herself at the same time. This is so psychological and that is what I love about this drama!! I love how all the little things are tying in together!!
