The First series that finished was Hwarang/ Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth which was a historical Korean Drama. It was about The Queen creating a Hwarang in the Kingdom of Silla as a way to protect the King. The problem is that in Silla is that King became a King when he was too young and so the Queen had to reign as regent instead and she sent away the King. She is trying to protect the throne for him but she also doesn’t want to give it up either. Then comes in the story of a peasant that gets his way into the city and is also drafted into the Hwarang with all the other rich nobles.

This drama started off pretty strongly with the premise and it was a fun drama. It stars Park Seo-Joon and Go-Ara, Park Hyung-Sik, Minho. It has a lot of good actors and it was a large ensemble cast that will always keep everything interesting. It again it the typical drama in the way of the fight over the throne and duty which is common. It has a weird thread with a brother and sister romance that seemed strange. The ending was okay I almost expected more from the drama. I found Go-Ara kinda annoying as the main female character she was always crying or pouting her face. I really couldn’t sympathize with her at all in the drama.

I am a little surprised that Seo-Joon would do this drama, I don’t know why but it seemed a little bit childish for him? I don’t know he obviously carried the drama but the other actors seemed a lot younger. I personally don’t like Minho that much but he did okay, less annoying then I thought he would be. This drama had moments that I really enjoyed and it did keep me interested.

The second series that I finished was Missing Nine which was about an entertainment company plane went down and crashed and 9 people end up on a deserted island together and they try to survive. So I was initially apprehensive to watch a deserted island drama as the last one I watched was Lost and I really hated what they did with that tv show. Thankfully this drama had a purpose and everything was explained. So this drama was really captivating for the first while Bong-Hee ends up back in Korea and she has no memory of what has happened. They had been missing for a few months and she is the only survivor and they want to unravel her memories so they can find where the rest of the survivors are.

So they jump from the present and into the past when she was on the island. I really love this type of story telling because it keeps things interesting and you get curious. This is an awesome set of actors, I have to say Choi Tae-Joon did a great job in his role, he was really believable. I also have to warn you there is a lot of violence more than the average drama I have watched.  I have to say this isn’t really a love story, the focus is not on that which I found refreshing from the average drama! I also loved Joon-Oh and Bong-Hee they were funny together and I loved their friendship. Joon-Oh’s character is really interesting as he wants to help others even if he can’t and even if he has to sacrifice himself.

The later episodes I don’t enjoy as much but I still want to watch to see how things will be resolved. There are surprised along the way! I have to say the ending is sooooo lame! It was like they weren’t expecting they were going to have to wrap it up in that episode so they crappily threw it together! It completely glazed over all the bad things that have happened! Overall this was a unique drama with the background being an island and for the most part I enjoyed it!

The third drama that I finished Introverted Boss/ My Shy Boss. It is about a CEO of a PR company who is introverted and shy so he can’t work well with his employees and is unable to properly communicate with people. His friend  Woo-II is the face of the company and always cleans up after him. Ro-Woon begins working at the company and it is her mission to expose the CEO and show everybody who he really is and in the process exact her revenge on him and the company.

So this drama just finished and it was an interesting concept. We don’t often see men being introverted and shy and still being portrayed as a leading man. I think it shed some light on what it feels like to be an introverted and the pressure of trying to balance all the thoughts they have before they can speak what they feel. I am introverted so I could relate to this drama easily. It is interesting because there is also a mystery over a suicide that happened in the company and it slowly unravels over the drama.

The one major problem with the drama is the reason for the suicide, it really doesn’t make sense to me and the reasoning behind the suicide just doesn’t fit. People don’t take their own lives over what they portrayed it to be, I don’t think people take life that easily unless they truly have a mental illness. That really bothered me when watching and it just felt wrong. Again the last episode felt a bit weird and somewhat thrown together. But for the most part I enjoyed the story and the characters and think it was an interesting drama despite it’s faults.
